The Academia, the leading watch line of Swiss watch maker DeWitt, has been added with a new model – the Blackstream Chronograph watch. Like other models in Academia collection, this new Dewitt watch aims to attract young men who love luxury watches with a nice sporty touch.

The Dewitt Academia Blackstream gets some inspiration from racing cars and fuses it into the dial design. That iis why you can feel a sporty elegance from its black velvet dial even at the very first sight. This dial features a pair of subsidiary dials that are connected by a “radiator-grille” that is easily found on a car motor. The two subdials together look like a mini speedometer of a racing car. Well, the subdial at 9 is for running seconds, while the other at 3 displays the 30-minute chronograph. The exquisite sunray pattern is another lovely feature of the dial. I also love the elegant Arabic numerals and those delicate small hands and numerals/markings on the dial.

Powering the watch is the DW6005 calibre- a 27-jewel automatic movement with a frequency at 28,800 vph and 48-hour power reserve.

The case, 44mm in diameter, displays an impressive contrast between Grade 5 titanium and black PVD/rubber-the case itself is mainly crafted from titanium and subtly complimented by the mentioned two materials. The bezel retains the brand’s iconic imperial-column design. The watch are fitted with sapphire crystal at both side. The rear one allows you have a clear view of the DW6005 calibre. And the watch is just water resistant to 30 meter, which is just enough for daily wearing.

The watch is presented onto the wrist by a black rubber strap with “imperial columns” pattern or a black leather strap. Both straps come with a triple-blade folding clasp in black PVD coated clasp.
